The Botanical Gardens at Asheville's celebratory pictorial book "Labor of Love: The First 50 Years" tells the story of the activation and continuance of a dream to build a sanctuary for regional native plants. The reader will meet the Gardens' founders who galvanized the Southern Appalachian community to transform an overgrown garbage-strewn ten acres into the wonderful botanical treasure existing today. Through photographs and anecdotes, the story continues to demonstrate how the Gardens developed over the years while assimilating changes in the landscapes and botanical thinking. But mostly the saga revolves around the volunteers and community that have devoted and continue to commit countless hours and financial resources to carry out the Gardens' mission. The book is priced at $12.95 plus $1 tax, totaling $13.95. Copies can be ordered by sending a check to BGA, 51 W.T. Weaver Blvd., Asheville, NC 28804-3414. Be sure to include your name and address. The book will also be available in BGA's Garden Path Gift Shop when the shop opens for the season in early March. Return to: 151 W.T. Weaver Boulevard, Asheville, NC 28804–3414
